Nowadays, Branson is known as a sprawling hyperactive tourist destination, but in 1930 it was still a sleepy little river town where most visitors came to fish or to take in the scenery. But the peace and quiet were shattered on the morning of Oct.14 when a chicken farmer name Walter Cook from nearby Ridgedale attempted to board the Missouri Pacific train at the Branson depot for the short trip to Hollister.
